Read the following article from Bob Roberts (Exponential) here and see what you think. I personally think the number one requirement for planting should be a deep love of the Lord Jesus Christ. I recently spoke about this at the Act29WE conference in London. many people come to work on estates and/or with the poor/deprived/needy and they think that ‘loving people’ is sufficient motivation. It is not. If we do not love Jesus above all others then we will soon tire of a work that is hard, depressing, disappointing, glorious, and rewarding (often all at the same time and often separately). I will blog more on motivations for service later.
