Lust: It’s not a female problem is it?
Interesting little blog post here on this topic, rarely discussed from a female perspective.
Hand Up v Hand Out….Fight!!!
Please take the time today to read this (here) thought provoking article from Compassion on the plight of the poor around the world. We need to be careful in helping people out, that we are not creating problems rather than solving them. Many churches need a radical mind shift in how we ‘do’ justice and mercy.
Taking the risk with your neighbours
I enjoyed this stimulating post on taking risks in reaching out to those around us. Read it here. Not sure of the ‘people of peace’ as a biblical concept but his fears and his approach to life as a Christian still resonate.
Doing Justice in Poor neighbourhoods (1)
A friend sent me this today about the gentrification of many poor housing estates in the world. His context is in the USA but i feel the force of some of this for the ‘locals’ of Niddrie and many who have been pushed out by recent redevelopment. Housing prices are so high here that even we can’t get on the housing ladder!
Are you a hipster? The most important question for any church planter!
Take this survey here…For your information I scored no points! I am about as ‘unhip’ as they come! Well chuffed!

Advice from a pastors wife
I found this little link online recently and thought it may be helpful. Check it out here.
Should we preach from full notes or is that unspiritual???
I know many pastors who think that preaching from full notes is a real no-no. They think that it curbs and inhibits the work of the Holy Spirit in preaching and ties people down. I couldn’t disagree more and I always preach from a full manuscript and I bet that if you asked my members on a…
Communion – it’s meant for sinners!
A thought provoking little article here by Luke Stamps on how we should approach the Lord’s Supper.
Sniffing Glue
A post for all you saddos who were into ‘cool’ (not) Christian music groups with a salutary warning that the gospel of Christ will always outlast the latest fads. Read it here. I was in prison at the time and was probably better off in solitary than listening to half the stuff that Christian musicians and bands were trying to do at the time.
