Church Planting Supersite!!
I am always on the hunt for good resources when it comes to church planting. The problem we have in the UK is the lack of quality material on the topic, relevant to our context. The problem we have in housing schemes is contextualising material written for a largely middle class demographic. However, if you can think on your feet and are able to work hard at this,…
Should we care about the regulative principle?
This is an interesting debate in the context of housing schemes. There is a helpful discussion starter to be found here on the topic.
Sing it like we mean it!
A bit of Christmas fun to brighten up your day. We have our Christmas carol service today at NCC and I hope we sing wiht half the gusto on display here 🙂 [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihQuiyV-lXU] Also, I found this one quite cool and modern. Just when you thought it coudn’t get any worse, this happens!!
Just before you watch this very famous clip I would like to make a few points in relation to church planting. 1. As a person who has spoken in churches around the world, I have had hands on experience of the ‘piano lady’. Some of my most painful moments have come at funerals with some…
Sniffing Glue
A post for all you saddos who were into ‘cool’ (not) Christian music groups with a salutary warning that the gospel of Christ will always outlast the latest fads. Read it here. I was in prison at the time and was probably better off in solitary than listening to half the stuff that Christian musicians and bands were trying to do at the time.
Should we sing Psalms?
I found this interesting 3 part article here. A little nod to my Free Church brothers. It is amusing me to think that they have just passed a vote to allow modern songs into their music playing and now there is a growing trend in some circles to reverse the flow and return to a traditional Psalmody. You have to love it.
Encouragement for those struggling
Beautiful illustration of doubt. I will show it at NCC today after preaching on Hebrews 10:32-39. God is faithful. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2umWjbTY_Sk&feature=player_embedded]
10 Principles for Church Song Singing
Interesting stuff here from Kevin DeYoung on this. This is part 1 but you can also click on part 2 when you have finished.

Let’s Get Physical In Our Worship!
Good post here on this topic. Physical worship in my church may mean somebody raises their eyebrow or smiles during a song. We have some ‘hand raisers’ but usually a quick stare will calm them down. After all, it is ‘joy unspeakable.’ There will be enough time in glory for enjoying yourself in worship, so let’s just get on with being serious…
